The Ford World Curling Championships are well underway in Winnipeg Manitoba. For those of you new to curling wagering on curling is in its infancy. Only Olympic is currently offering lines for the men and women at the Ford WCC. Pinnacle will be offering wagering once the semi-final start on Friday.
Unfortunately Olympic's limits are very low (200 dollars) and their lines move very easily. For example, this morning's Korea versus Germany game opened at -115 for both sides. I released Germany and played it myself at -115 and -125 for the maximum. The line closed at Germany -170.We clearly have Olympic running scared.Despite this there is some easy money to be made. By the way Germany won this morning 8-5.
The men's draw is currently led by unbeaten Canada at 5-0. Dating back to the provincial championships Randy Ferbey has won 27 consecutive games. They are clearly the class of the field and are huge favourites in any game they play. Scotland is currently at 3-2 and will definitely be up for this match with Canada. Canada is listed as a -450 favourite. There is some value with the Scots here at +275 but I will pass.
2002 Olympic gold medalist Paul Trulsen of Norway is battling knee and back pain and sits at 2-3 after a loss to Sweden this morning. Also at 2-3 is Ulrich Scmidt of Denmark. This game opened at a pick but has been bet up to Norway -200. The value here now is with Denmark at +150. Take them for 1/2 unit.
The 4-1 Finns play 1-4 Korea. The Finns are listed -700 favourite. The Koreans are worst team in the competition but this is too much chalk. Pass.
Switzerland at 3-2 faces USA at 1-4. The Americans played Canada very tough this morning at the ice conditios are changing because of the rapidly warming temperatures in Winnipeg. Take the USA at +300 for 1/2unit.
The final game this evening pits 3-2 Sweden against 1-4 Germany. Despite their records the Germans have a good shot at an upset tonight. Take Germany at +200 for 1/2 unit.
We will have some plays for tomorrow morning's women's draw later tonight.
